Hertz is good except for being expensive. Renting an Audi Q5 for 3 days cost 5000. On the spot, I requested an upgrade, and for an additional 30 AUD per day, I upgraded to a Q5. However, the rental company advised that the insurance bought through QEEQ would require upfront payment. To avoid any hassle, I ultimately purchased insurance from Hertz for peace of mind. Additionally, it feels a bit like forced consumption that QEEQ makes you buy basic insurance with every package.

I rented a Ford but received an old Isuzu. The staff did not inform me or guide me to inspect the car before having me sign a document stating the car was in good condition. Having rented cars many times in Australia, I trusted this chain and later realized it was a big mistake. The rental process went smoothly, but a few days after returning the car, I received an email claiming I had scratched the car. I asked for photos of the car in good condition at the time of rental, but they said none were taken and that it's the customer's responsibility to confirm the car's condition. I was shocked, as other rental companies always provide detailed photos of the car during pickup. It seems here that once a customer is misled into signing, they can blame any damage on the customer? They charged 4600 for a 4cm scratch. Fortunately, I had full insurance, but it took a month to get reimbursed. I've rented cars many times in the US, Europe, and Japan, and this is the first time I've had such a terrible experience with an Australian rental company.

I booked a Mitsubishi ASX but received a Chery instead, which was still quite new. Although I was initially very dissatisfied, they replied that it was a similar car of the same category. QEEQ mentioned that I could go to Europcar to exchange it, but I decided to keep it since there might not be a similar car available. Chery's model isn't available in my country, and the new car was quite pleasant to drive, making my month in Brisbane enjoyable. Europcar didn't push insurance on me; I requested full coverage myself. It turned out to be the right decision because I scuffed the front left side, and the final settlement didn't cost me anything—it would have been very expensive to repair it myself. The final bill was settled about two weeks after returning the car. Europcar is a big company, very efficient, and the cars are new. Nice.

Is ACE affiliated with Hertz? I returned a car at Brisbane International and rented another one (due to a different drop-off location) while waiting at the designated spot. ACE sent a car to pick me up. The cars have good value for money; they may not be brand new but still very easy to drive and fuel-efficient. They didn't push for insurance, but I had already bought full coverage. A two-seater car was more than enough for two people.

To be honest, this was a disappointing car rental experience. 1) The order stated it was from Apollo Rent a Car, but there was no Apollo counter at the airport. When I called the number on the order, Hertz answered. 2) When picking up the car, Hertz said they couldn't see any insurance payment in their system, even though we had paid for it when booking from our home country. Hertz insisted we buy insurance on the spot or they wouldn't release the car. Therefore, the total cost for four days was RMB1870 plus an additional AUD184 for insurance on-site. 3) The free GPS they sent us was almost useless in Australia, constantly crashing and failing to navigate. We had to resort to using our phone's roaming for directions. I have lodged a complaint and the issue is still being processed with no satisfactory response yet.

During my car rental period, I committed a traffic violation. Since the car from Apollo Company is registered under the company’s name, the fine is ten times higher than that for an individual. However, when the rental company received the fine notice, they did not handle it and simply passed it on to me, asking me to pay. After checking the traffic regulations, I found that in this situation, the regulations allow me to transfer the name on the fine to my personal name, reducing the fine to one-tenth of the original amount. The rental company should be well aware of this and should inform the renter immediately upon receiving such fines from the traffic authority, assisting them in transferring the name. But Apollo Company did nothing and gave no reminders. Uninformed customers might end up paying ten times the fine unjustly. Therefore, it can be concluded that Apollo Company is very irresponsible and, to a certain extent, even deceptive. So, be cautious with this company. The service from the car rental platform itself is good, but their experience in dealing with unscrupulous foreign merchants needs improvement.

The rental service from ZuzuCar was very poor, and I probably won't use them again. We booked a full insurance package on the website, but upon arrival to pick up the car, we were informed that we had only paid for the car itself. Additional fees for insurance, extra mileage, pre-purchased gas, and so on needed to be paid separately. Calling ZuzuCar's customer service on-site did not resolve the issue; they simply told us to pay the extra costs ourselves. There was no coordination between ZuzuCar and Apollo. We ended up spending nearly two hours at the pick-up location. In the end, we had to buy additional insurance and cover other costs ourselves, paying over 600 AUD more than originally planned. After returning home, ZuzuCar's customer service continued to ignore us, and there has been no word on compensation so far. However, Apollo's service attitude was quite good.

Upon arrival at the rental office, a staff member tried to sell me a full insurance package for over 570 dollars, which I declined. Then the staff said that apart from the 3400 dollars pre-authorization deposit, I also had to pay a 268-dollar bank fee. They said this fee is charged by the bank for processing the 3400-dollar pre-authorization. They also mentioned that if I didn't buy full insurance and the vehicle had any issues, they would deduct from the 3400 dollars pre-authorization for each issue, and each deduction would come with an extra 268-dollar fee. Hearing this, I called QEEQ customer service immediately. In the first three hours, the first and second customer support agents said that the 268-dollar fee couldn't be waived, and I had to pay it upfront and discuss a resolution after returning the vehicle. The third customer support agent said that I should pay it upfront, and QEEQ would reimburse me after returning the vehicle. By the fourth call, I insisted that such fees were not in the contract and that it was a breach of agreement, so I would not be renting the vehicle. An hour later, they replied, saying the 268-dollar fee would not be charged, and I could return to collect the vehicle by paying the deposit. But who could trust a company that clearly scams tourists? From 8 AM to 3 PM, I was constantly communicating, and even though the 268-dollar fee was waived, I dared not trust such a shady company. If they didn’t succeed in scamming me with insurance and hidden fees, they would find another way to deduct the whole 3400 dollars deposit after I returned the vehicle. So, I told QEEQ customer service that I couldn't rent the car under such conditions. I decided not to rent it because if I returned the vehicle and they deducted my 3400 dollars deposit, it wouldn’t be feasible for me to book another flight to Australia just to sue them. The end result is that I didn’t rent the car, and of course, the 700+ dollars rental fee I already paid was non-refundable. The fact that they tried to sell me a 570-dollar insurance on a 700+ dollars rental and used a ridiculous 268-dollar fee per transaction trick is absurd. Apollo Rental Company is blatantly predatory, and the whole company thrives on this practice, not just individual employees. Losing 700 dollars is better than losing all 3400.

When I arrived, a staff member tried to push a $570 full insurance plan, which I declined. Then, they said that apart from a $3400 deposit, there would be an additional $268 bank fee, allegedly a fee imposed by the bank for handling the deposit. They mentioned that if any problems arise with the rental car and I haven't purchased full insurance, the repair costs would be deducted from the deposit, and each deduction would incur an additional $268 fee. After hearing this, I immediately called QEEQ customer service. The first two times I called, they insisted that the fee couldn't be waived and that I should pay it upfront and seek reimbursement after returning the car. The third time, they said QEEQ would reimburse me after I return the car. By the fourth call, I pointed out that this charge wasn't in the contract and refused to rent the car. An hour later, they said the fee would be waived and that I could return to pay the deposit and take the car. But would I trust such a blatantly dishonest company? From 8 AM to 3 PM, I argued this issue. The $268 fee might have been waived, but now I'd be worried that they'd find more ways to scam me out of the $3400 deposit. Imagining that, I decided not to rent from them. So, I told QEEQ customer service that I wouldn't rent from them due to these reasons. Of course, they didn't refund the over $700 I already paid. Charging me $570 for insurance and adding absurd $268 per-transaction fees on a $700 rental for 21 days? Clearly a scam. In conclusion: Apollo RV company is a scam from top to bottom. $700 lost is better than losing $3400. Avoid them at all costs.
