One-Dollar Freeze

When I walked out of the parking lot after returning the car in San Diego I felt really relaxed. Part of it was because my little drive from Las Vegas was over. Another big part was because I remembered I only paid 1 dollar at the start for this rental. I kept thinking that if I did not see the One-Dollar Freeze option on QEEQ I would probably still be worrying about my credit card limit this month. If I go back to around mid May when I booked the car on my phone I was actually a bit nervous. I was flying from the UK to the US on my own. I needed to pick up the car in Las Vegas and then return it the next day in San Diego. It felt like a lot to plan. I chose a Hertz Ford Focus with automatic transmission and 2 doors and 4 seats. I just wanted something not too big and easy to drive. When I saw the total price my first thought was that paying all of it at once would hit my card quite hard. In my head I started counting money for hotels and flights. Then I saw the One-Dollar Freeze option. It said I could pay only 1 dollar first and the rest would be charged automatically before the trip start. At that moment it felt like this plan was made for me. In my head I said to myself I can just pay 1 dollar now and not kill my credit card limit. When I clicked confirm I felt a lot lighter like the trip was already locked but my wallet was still safe for now. The payment message popped up and it really was just 1 dollar. I checked my statement and there were no strange extra fees. In the next days I was busy with my travel plans. Flights places to stay places I wanted to see. When you travel alone there are many small things to think about. The nice part was that I did not worry about when the rest of the car money would be taken. I just kept thinking they would handle it automatically. It felt like I booked the car first and then could focus on everything else instead of paying a big sum first and stressing later. One or two days before I flew into Las Vegas I suddenly thought about the car and opened my credit card record. I saw the rest of the rental fee was already charged and the amount was what I expected. It did not look higher. In my head I said good no weird charges. For someone like me who travels alone this kind of plan is really nice because the pressure in the beginning is much lower. On May twenty first in the morning I walked to the Hertz counter at the Las Vegas airport to pick up the car. I felt calm because the money was already charged before and it did not feel like a huge hit in one shot. The staff at the counter checked my booking and documents and gave me a car from the same group similar to a Ford Focus. I did not really care which exact model it was as long as it was automatic. What I cared about more was that I only paid 1 dollar at the start. If I had paid everything in one go I would have felt much more stressed when I was planning this whole trip. When I was driving out of Las Vegas I kept thinking this 1 dollar way is great for students or people on a tighter budget. In the whole process I almost never worried about the payment timing. I just paid a little first and let them charge the rest when the trip was close. The main thing is that during that period my credit card limit was still free for flights and hotels. The car cost did not lock all my money at once. When I returned the car in San Diego the next day and walked away I realized that from booking to return I almost never stressed about when the money would be charged or if they would charge more. I only remembered paying 1 dollar at the beginning and then seeing the rest of the amount charged normally on my statement later. Step by step the whole thing was just smooth. The booking experience felt very easy and my credit card pressure was small which is important for someone traveling alone to the US. I kept this in mind and I think next time I need a car I will check QEEQ again to see if I can use this kind of 1 dollar booking option.

One-Dollar Freeze

How did I feel at first? I just felt my pressure went down a lot. I booked my car on QEEQ and I was traveling alone. My credit card limit is not very high. I was thinking if I should pay a big amount right now or not. Then I saw the One-Dollar Freeze option and I started to feel interested. I asked myself first. Is it really safe if I only pay 1 dollar to lock the car? I thought for a while. It is only one dollar and it is not a big risk. So I chose this plan. That day I booked a car at Inverness. The pickup time was around May 19 in the afternoon at about 1 pm. The rental company was Europcar and the car was a Jeep Avenger with manual gear. This was already enough for me. When I placed the order the page showed I only needed to pay 1 dollar first. I checked the bill again and again. I kept asking in my mind. Is it really just this amount? When the payment message came I saw they only took this small amount from my card. I felt much more relaxed. My credit card was not locked by a big payment at once. In the next days I was still a bit nervous. Would they suddenly charge some strange fees before pickup? I opened my credit card bill from time to time. Everything looked normal. When it was close to the pickup day around May 18 the rest of the money was charged in a normal way. There were no extra items and there was no interest. At that moment I felt I was lucky that I tried this plan. When I arrived at the Europcar counter in Inverness I showed my booking to the staff. They checked and said the booking was already paid and I only needed to follow the normal steps. I asked myself again. So I really kept the car for a few days with only 1 dollar at first. Is that true? The answer was yes. I checked my credit card bill again and the whole process was clear and simple. For a solo traveler like me who does not want the credit card to be full at once this way of paying only 1 dollar first and then paying the rest close to the pickup day made me feel very safe. During the trip I kept thinking that if every car booking could work like this with a small first payment and then later full charge it would really make the pressure much lower for people like me who still feel a bit like students and like to travel on a tight budget.

One-Dollar Freeze

When I think back, the most relaxing part of booking my car in Austin was using One-Dollar Freeze with QEEQ and feeling my money pressure drop right away. At that time I was planning my trip budget for Tokyo and also thinking about this Austin car booking, so my head was full of numbers. For Tokyo I set a total budget of 100000 yen, then about 300 dollars for two nights of hotel, plus around 200 euros for food, so my wallet felt pretty tight. When I looked for cars online I chose a Toyota Camry in Austin. It was automatic with four doors and five seats, very good for an overseas visitor like me to drive. I started to worry when I thought I might need to pay the full rental at once, because my credit card limit might feel very tight. Then I saw they had One-Dollar Freeze and I could pay only 1 dollar first to hold the booking and the rest would be taken from my card before pickup with no interest. It felt perfect for me. When I placed the order the payment page only showed 1 dollar and the bank text message also just showed a very small charge. I felt calm and I could still book my Tokyo hotel and plan my food budget without staring at my credit card limit all the time. Later, around the days close to my pickup time in Austin, the remaining amount was charged automatically. I did not even focus on it too much. I just got a bank message, checked that the number was correct and saw there were no strange extra fees. This split payment style felt really easy. For someone like me who is planning different cities and using different currencies at the same time, paying only 1 dollar first and then letting the rest be charged later with no interest made the whole car booking feel light. I could keep more attention on my trips instead of on my card stress.

One-Dollar Freeze

I was traveling alone in Crete and the first thing I remember about booking my car was that I only needed to pay 1 dollar to place the order. That day I checked many sites and saw that with QEEQ I could book a Lets Drive Citroen C3 AIRCROSS by paying just 1 dollar first. I felt very relaxed because I did not have to put a big amount on my credit card at once. One or two days before my trip I suddenly remembered the booking and then I realized I already had a car waiting for me. The rest of the money was charged later automatically and on my bill I only saw the normal charge. There was no extra fee and no interest. So during the whole time I almost did not worry about the payment. From planning my trip to driving on Crete I did not feel much credit card pressure and at the airport I only needed to find the rental counter and show my documents to the staff. For a solo traveler like me who needs to watch the budget and does not want to pay a big sum in one go this One-Dollar Freeze way made the booking feel very easy and helped me book the car early without stress.

One-Dollar Freeze

I was sitting on a small shuttle in Arzachena in Italy watching the sea and the sunset outside the window. I was scrolling on my phone and told my friend I was really glad I booked the car by paying only 1 dollar first. I said that if I had to pay everything at once I might not have rented the car at all. My friends were laughing at me and saying I was acting like I was signing some big bank loan. The whole story actually started on the day I booked the car on QEEQ. I saw a Peugeot 2008 and planned to pick it up at Olbia airport and return it a few days later in Arzachena. School had just finished and my budget was pretty tight. My credit card limit was not very high. I kept looking at the price and doing math in my head. I thought if the full amount was taken right now my card would be almost full and I might not have space for other things later. I was holding my phone and staring at the screen. My friend next to me asked me if I would book it or not. I told him I wanted to but I was scared to pay too much at once. At that moment I saw an option called One-Dollar Freeze. The explanation said I only needed to pay a 1 dollar booking fee first and the rest would be charged automatically before the rental started and there was no interest. I felt a bit suspicious. I thought in my head there might be some hidden fee and wondered why 1 dollar could really hold the car. I asked my friend again if he thought it was safe. I asked him if paying 1 dollar really meant the booking was real. He told me I should just lock the car first since it was not some random website. I stared at the payment amount several times. It really showed only 1 dollar on the page. I checked the expected charge on my card and did not see any weird numbers. I suddenly felt a lot more relaxed. In my mind I told myself that even if something went wrong it was just the price of one coffee. Then I tapped confirm. My phone buzzed and I got the booking email. I checked the amount again and it really was only 1 dollar. I felt like I could breathe again. I did not need to push my credit card so hard right away. I even said to myself that my card would not be under such strong pressure. In the next days I kept planning the Italy trip. I also bought some other stuff. If I had paid the full car rental price that first day my card would have been pretty tight. Sometimes I thought about the booking and I went back to check the email and the order. It showed that the rest of the money would be charged before the trip started. That made me feel like I did not need to worry about it all the time. When I arrived in Olbia it was a bit later than I had first planned. I think it was around the evening of May 17. I walked out of the terminal with my bag. The air smelled like the sea. On the way to the Europcar counter I kept thinking I hoped the payment was all fine and there would be no problem at the desk. At the counter I gave my papers to the staff. They typed on the computer. Those few seconds made me nervous. In my head I suddenly pictured the system saying I had not paid and that I would need to swipe a big amount on the spot. I held my phone ready to open my bank app and check if the rest of the money had been charged. The staff looked up and nodded and asked me to sign a few papers. While I signed I checked my phone. The bank notification popped up right then. It was the charge for the rest of the rental. I stared at the number for a second. That money was only taken now which was exactly what I understood before. They did not take all of it far in advance. At that moment I felt pretty calm. The whole payment rhythm felt smooth. I turned to my friend and said you see it was really good that I only paid 1 dollar at first. Otherwise I would have been stressed way earlier. He laughed and said I was just scared of spending too much at once. But I knew that for a student with a small budget this difference was actually big. When we drove away from the airport it was already dark. The mountains were just black shapes and there were a few lights in the distance. I held the steering wheel and suddenly thought that without this pay 1 dollar first way I might have waited until the last minute to book. Then the price would be higher or I might not find a good car. This time I locked the car early and my credit card did not feel too tight. On the day I returned the car which was around the afternoon of May 21 I parked at the return place in Arzachena and gave the keys back. After the check I walked out and opened my phone again. I checked my card history. There were no strange extra charges. There was the 1 dollar at the start and then the one big automatic payment. It felt like everything was planned from the beginning and I just followed the dates. On the shuttle back I told the whole booking story to another classmate. He said he always felt a lot of pressure when renting a car because the full amount gets charged when the trip has not even started. I told him he could try this way where you pay 1 dollar first to hold the booking. I said it really does not make your card feel so tight at the start. When I said that I felt a bit funny like I was selling some special trick only students care about. But for me this small detail really made the trip feel lighter. I opened my email again and looked at the first booking email with that small amount. I thought that without One-Dollar Freeze I might not have booked the car so easily. For someone like me who is still in school and has a limited budget being able to lock the car by paying just 1 dollar first made the whole booking experience much easier.

Dedicated customer service

I will start from the problem. When I saw more than 700 dollars taken from my credit card, I was really shocked. This happened a few days after I went back to the UK. I thought the whole trip was already over, then this big charge suddenly showed up and I felt a lot of pressure. I had booked the car on QEEQ. I only wanted a big car for many people, so in early April I booked a Ford Transit in Los Angeles. I planned to pick it up on the evening of April fifth and return it on April nineteenth. On the pickup day at the rental counter, the staff gave me a thick paper contract and told me I just needed to sign. They said it was normal. I did not think too much. I only checked that there was an extra driver added. I believed the rest was the same as my original booking. After I returned the car and went home, I saw many charges on the bill with names I never heard and did not understand. Then I knew something was wrong. I contacted customer support right away and told them the whole story. I said I only agreed to pay for the extra driver and that I returned the car with a full tank of fuel. I did not know about those other insurances and services at all. At first I felt very nervous and a bit hopeless, because I thought this kind of thing is hard to explain. But there was someone who kept following my case. They did not leave me alone to fight with the rental company. They helped me talk to the rental company and also told me what kind of result might happen. I followed their advice and searched my fuel payment records one by one. Then I sent them all the receipts and marked which one was the fuel on the return date. They went to ask the rental company why they charged these extra things. I could feel that the person talking with me was the platform customer service and not the staff at the rental counter who just pushed contracts in front of me. Even though some fees could not be taken back in the end because they were written in the contract that I had signed without reading clearly, I still felt that someone was speaking for me the whole time. I am not a person who understands rental terms well. I cannot understand many of those special words. Asking me to argue with an overseas rental company all by myself is not realistic. Because of this dedicated customer service and the way they kept following up, I always knew what was going on and what step we were at. This made me feel calmer. For me this Dedicated customer service is not some fancy feature. It means there is a real person on my side who is willing to spend time to make things clear. I still feel sad about the money, but I do not feel abandoned or ignored.
