The Jucy - Cairns car rental location is located out of the airport

Here’s what you need to do to get yours during our business hours: Once you’ve got your luggage, give us a call on 1800 150 850. Press 1 and follow the prompts, to book your spot. For both the domestic and international terminals, exit the airport and follow the signs to the courtesy coach pick up area. If you’re already in town, it’s approximately $10 in an Uber, or you can reach us on foot in about 20 minutes. JUCY currently has all after hours pickups suspended- you must collect the vehicle the during office hours

AIRPORT DROP OFF Drive your car rental to our JUCY Cairns branch at 55 Dutton Street, Portsmith. We recommend adding a 45-minute buffer to your journey time. If you’re heading to the airport, hop on our next free shuttle ride. Our last bus leaves at 3.30pm on weekdays and 1.30pm on weekends.

In terms of travelling there, most of the roads are sealed however there are areas where the roads are unsealed and we have some rules you need to be aware of if you do take your JUCY wheels there. If you take your vehicle on any off-road activities or conditions, including on any unsealed road (being a road not sealed with a hard material such as tar, bitumen or concrete) then our excess reduction cover does not provide cover should anything happen. Off-road conditions include: fire trails, beaches, sand, tracks, fields or paddocks. The only exception to this is reasonable use of access roads to recognized commercial campgrounds. To find out more, refer to the terms and conditions. If there is any damage incurred to the vehicle on the ferry, our excess reduction cover stands void.

Definitely a budget operation. All the cars I had the opportunity to hire had plenty of knocks to them. If you are used to premium car hire operators with new, good condition vehicles Jucy may not be the best choice for you.

The car was quite old but anyway the price is cheap. What you pay is what you get. Upon arrival, I tried to call the hotline several times for airport pick-up but no luck, I had to take uber to go to the location and pay $34, it was quite disappointing at the beginning but after raising the concern with the staff, they arranged reimbursement for the same so all good in the end. The staff are professional and accommodating.

Best to bite the bullet and go with a tier 1 rental company. By the time you travel to the depot and pay for insurance, you're better off hiring a car based at the airport.

Car was beaten up with lots of scratches and dents. Depot was a long way from airport and the shuttle's timing wasn't good, ie a lot of flights are quite early but the service doesn't start until around 8.30-9 I think

Terrible experience, car was extremely dated with over 140,000kms on it. Panels looses, car drove terribly and had a constant tick. When I arrived constant expectations that I pay more and put more money on hold. All in all the car was a piece of sh#t that wouldn’t be worth more than $2000. Staff not helpful and will never use Jucy again.
