Good, with the exception of the (otherwise very helpful) Europcar staff trying to sell insurance

We arrived slightly early but the Europcar guy was friendly and went out of his way to help us get away as quickly as possible. It would have been five stars if the guy hadn't then tried to sell us excess insurance (which we already had). This made the whole thing slightly uncomfortable, which was a major shame as otherwise it would have been perfect. Please can Europcar train its people not to clumsily up-sell insurance to its customers? It seems to be endemic in the sector, unfortunately. I want to be left alone to make my own decisions about what insurance I buy, not frightened into buying Europcar's insurance!

“Disdain for Customer”

Attempts were made to upsell me to a car I clearly didn't need: "Since there's 2 of you a bigger car might be better" What?! It was a fairly aggressive upsell and along with the usual insurance nonsense, showed disdain for the customer

“EasyRentCars Good, Europcar Not So Good.”

The car battery was not connected correctly, which resulted in a dead car and a lost day waiting on Europcar's repair person. Then we had a flat tyre, which resulted in another lost day because Europcar's staff/systems made a number of errors meaning we had to wait around for 6 hours before the thing was repaired. The car had not been adequately cleaned before i took possession it, and after the smell of the cleaning products had worn off, the car actually stank of cigarette smoke. A promised reimbursement for the lost days has not yet been processed to my account by Europcar either.
