MENORCA CAR RENTAL REVIEWS

Like: Pick up desk right by carousel, staff efficient but did try to up sell their own insurance (wasn't happy that we had our own). Did manage to up sell a better car than booked and offer additional driver, but happy as it was a minimal fee. Car was great and very fuel efficient! Drop off was very easy.
Dislike: Staff gave vague instructions as to where we could find car and said a colleague would be there to go over car for any previous damage. As it was late/dark took a while to find location and no one there/difficult to check condition of car.

Counter staff very brusque when she realised I would not by extra insurance. Also added €31 for refuelling. Which was not clearn in booking details.

Like: I got what I planned
Dislike: Getting to car rent office was not obvious, that I should take 'Dollar' called shuttle bus someone from other car rent company helped me

The reason for choosing this provider was that it stated pick up was within the Terminal. This wasn't the case. A shuttle bus to the rental location was involved. I wanted to avoid a shuttle bus due to having a small child and lots of luggage.

Specifically booked for an on-airport vehicle rental only to discover the booking had been passed on to another company 'Gold Cars' who have an awful customer satisfaction record. Had to locate a waiting minibus and shuttled offsite to their depot a few km away. Vehicle ok but they then tried to get us to pay extra insurance which wasn't compulsory and I had already purchased a one-off policy from a UK company to cover any excess. They then made us pay a "Diesel Tax". Checked this out on the Gold Cars website and this should only be paid if you specifically request a diesel (which we didn't). Tried to get a refund when vehicle returned but was told to take it up with the Co I booked through - I look forward to hearing from you!!! Had to wait around for a while for the return shuttle back to the airport. Shuttle bus consequently full and boot overfilled resulting in a dented case. Not happy!

Was not located in terminal as stated but involved a shuttle-bus to a different location. Not a problem but I specifically chose it for the in-airport location. Disappointing.

Got charged an extra €139 at the desk, still don't know what for... Poor customer service

Instructions for meeting the AA representatives was “Meet and Greet”.The assumption being in the Arrivals Hall!!l Too easy. After 20 mins of walking up and down the area and asking other car rental representatives for help nothing. Rang the AA contact no. three times to be told to ring customer services - no number given!! Approached the TUI rep to take up my free transfer to hotel and she helpfully pointed out and took us across the road and gave us instructions to find the meeting point. Twenty five minutes later a bus turned up. An hour and a half after entering the arrival hall arrived at AA.

Biens faire le tour du véhicule à la prise en charge car ils ne font pas l’état du véhicule avec nous, mais par contre à la restitution du véhicule, il font 2 fois le tour et sont très méticuleux. Au départ j’ai fait rajouter dans l’état des lieux des rayures sur la porte conducteur qu’il M'aurais crédité au retour.

Like: Great car for the price and the people at Dollar’s HQ were excellent. Hiring a car for the week didn’t cost much more than taxi transfers from the airport and saved us money on food shopping and other trips. Was sad to drop the brand new Polo back at the airport!
Dislike: Googlemaps link to the hire meet up spot at the airport didn’t work and so it took a bit of a ramble around the airport car parking/ meeting points to find the transfer van which takes you to the car hire centre on the nearby industrial estate.

My experience with GOLDCAR was very positive. Car was great, very clean and in excellent condition. Perfect for a couple.

Fantastic booking platform! Excellent value for money. I will surely use again :) Highly recommended.

Car was fab, the gentleman on pick up and drop off was really good and efficient. The lady I telephoned was most unhelpful and patronising.

Booking was smooth but was disappointed that the pick up location was not Menorca Airport as described & we had to take the shuttle bus which was most inconvenient with 2 small children.

The experience was very good, the staff were very helpful the cars good and I would have the confidence to do it again

The booking platform was very good, the communication was a wee bit out of sync

Wasn’t located in the terminal unlike advertised. Inter rent did not accept my AMEX or my wife’s VISA for the deposit of €1400 and so we were forced to buy an excess waiver (despite having my own insurance) for €180 at the counter. Had we not had a 2 year old with us and had not been waiting over an hour to get the car we would have just left and gone with a more reputable company such as Avis. In the end we paid the money just to put an end to the ordeal

Awful experience avoid this company. I thought we were having airport pick up after scanning all small print we’re lead to believe other wise but when we arrived had to get a bus with 5 bags and a toddler was a nightmare. Then the rude lady behind the desk wanted us to leave a €1400 deposit!!! And she said it takes up to a month to get it back once we return the car. Also wanted €50 deposit for petrol which I’ve never experienced. We complained and she said she won’t give us the car. We were being very civil but she was saying we were shouting which was absurd. They are a complete scam. there’s so many hidden costs involved AVOID AND NEVER EVER AGAIN!!

The vehicle was sold as in terminal which it isn’t. The process was horrendous/ the service desk was utterly shocking. I will never use again.

Expected to get the car st the airport had to wait a long time for the bus

Like: Easy to book, easy to deal with, Easy to find, brand new car !!
