We originally booked a Mercedes A-Class but were upgraded to a BMW 420, which was a pleasant surprise. Later, when discussing insurance matters, he was relatively patient. However, when we called the store to report a scratch during the rental period, the guy who answered was very impatient and hung up after a couple of sentences. Deducting one star for that.

Driving yourself in the Lake District is the most convenient way. Driving time on the road each day won't be too long, usually within an hour, so we only refueled once before returning the car. We rented a diesel car with decent power, and the steering was very precise, giving us confidence when cornering. This was my first time driving abroad and I found European roads quite narrow, especially the two-way two-lane roads. However, everyone follows the rules. Even if you're driving slowly and blocking the cars behind you, they won't honk at you, but they will tailgate you closely, telling you that you're driving too slow! We also drove on the highway a few times, and the highway tolls were pre-purchased by the rental company. The cars on the highway were speeding, and even at 130 km/h, we were continuously overtaken. I could only marvel at their driving skills, as I never dare to go over 120 km/h back home!
