Reminder to everyone: you must check the condition of the car thoroughly when renting and take photos as evidence. When returning the car, we noticed that a plastic part next to the originally scratched area had shifted. We did not have any collisions during the rental period, but the rental company insisted it was our fault. In the end, we had no choice but to agree to take responsibility. Since the car needed repairs, we provided our credit card information to cover the costs. Two weeks after returning home and repeatedly pushing the rental company for the repair invoice, we received no response until the company directly charged a huge amount (ISK170,634) to my credit card. Finally, after disputing the charges, we realized they had billed us for all car body repairs! Thankfully, we had asked the car rental employee to note that it was 'just a plastic part' when we returned the car. After presenting this evidence, the rental company refunded ISK150,634, only charging us ISK20,000. Very untrustworthy! Be cautious!
