The Alamo - Heathrow Airport car rental location is located out of the airport

On arrival you can proceed straight to the rental branch via our shuttle bus service operating every 5-8 minutes from outside the arrivals hall in any terminal. TERMINAL 1 CLOSED. TERMINAL 2 Bus stop 7 and 8: Ground floor outside arrivals hall. TERMINAL 3 Bus stop 17 and 18: As you exit arrivals, head straight past the exit ramp to the end of the terminal. Exit the terminal building using the doors on the right hand side. TERMINAL 4 Bus Stop 2: As you exit arrivals, head towards the exit located near the underground tube station, turn right out of these doors. TERMINAL 5 Bus Stop 26 and 27: As you exit arrivals, head past Costa Coffee and Marks & Spencer’s shop. Use the exit doors next to Cafe Nero and then cross to 2nd lane.

European Travel Coverage provides the customers with our written consent (VE103B form) to drive the vehicle in the countries stated below and to access 24/7 international breakdown cover through the AA. In all cases, customers must inform the rental branch of their intention to leave the UK mainland with the vehicle and require our authorization. Customers are required to inform the rental branch with no less than 72 hours’ notice prior to collecting the vehicle to arrange their European Travel Coverage. European Travel Coverage is only available to customers paying with a credit card and the vehicle must only be used in the following countries: Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, UK. This includes the destination and any countries customers might travel through. Premium, Luxury and Executive vehicles are excluded from the European Travel Coverage product and are therefore not allowed to leave the country. The charge for European Travel Coverage is £300.00 per rental for all cross border travels. Customers renting from Northern Ireland wishing to cross the border into the Republic of Ireland will only be charged £25.53

The pick up and drop off were handled efficiently and there were no queues. The car I booked was an intermediate car but I was downgraded to a Nissan Juke, a subcompact Jeep that could only take one big bag in the boot and I had two large bags and an electric guitar plus two hand luggages. It was a disappointment to be downgraded but the Alamo agent wanted to charge me GBP 10 per day for an upgrade and there were no intermediate cars. I was offered either a Nissan Juke or a Vauxhall Astra, both of which were smaller than the car I booked. I am very disappointed and hope to receive a partial refund for this downgrade. There was a problem with the petrol gauge. I pumped petrol until it clicked off. When I drove off to return the car I noted that the petrol gauge was still one bar below full which is what it was when I pumped GBP 8.24 worth of petrol. So I drove back to the petrol station and it clicked off again after I pumped GBP 2.24 worth of petrol but I added a little more till GBP 2.40. The petrol gauge still showed one bar below full tank. I pumped another GBP 1.17 of petrol and it clicked off again but the gauge still showed one bar below full. So I just returned the car with the petrol gauge showing one bar below full which is what it showed before I topped her up the first time!!!!! There must be something wrong with the petrol gauge.

First, the instruction to get the car from airport has no detail. I have to ask few people to get to the bus stop to the rental car (Heathrow airort terminal 2) Second, the staff do not have the model I rented (Nissan Qashqai Automatic). He try to sell the larger car (Manual transmission which I can drive). But the upgrade price is much higher than I have to pay for the Nissan Qashqai, so I decide to get the similar car that I booked. So finally I got the Vauxhall Grand Land manual transmission. I feel sort of tricky that they do not have the model I booked the car and prrovide the lower car type (manual) to me. I also talk to my friend about this, he also got the similar problem from Alamo that can not provide the model he book annd the staff try to sell the upgrade to other model. Third, I did use the road side assistant due to flat tyre. The response is quick and professional.

They should provide a detailed address instead of just a postcode. We were instructed to return the car at Edinburgh train station, but couldn't find any signs or an office nearby. We had to drive around the busy area for a long time before calling the store to get the exact location. This issue isn't unique to us. After we parked, another car faced the same problem and only found the spot after asking the police. I've lived in Edinburgh for nearly a year, and even I had trouble. It's even more challenging for first-time visitors.

They made me purchase full insurance without informing me, even though I had already bought supplemental insurance on Zuzuche. The rental company did not give a reasonable response after I raised a complaint; 3. Less than 200 kilometers after picking up the car, the antifreeze alarm went off. This is my fifth time renting a car abroad, and I've never encountered such a rogue and deceitful rental company! Be very careful! Firstly, if your English isn't fluent, the sales staff will speak very quickly to push insurance. I understand that, but even after refusing multiple times, they persisted. Secondly, they pushed the FUEL SERVICE OPTION. I had never come across this before, so I repeatedly confirmed if it was a pre-authorization and if returning the car with a full tank meant I'd get a refund. The sales staff assured me it was, but despite returning the car with a full tank, I didn't get a refund and was charged much more than the contract amount for no apparent reason. Later, I found out that it is indeed an additional service. However, rental platforms also say they can't restrain individual fraudulent behavior without a recording. So next time, make sure to record everything! Relying on the platform won't solve the problem! Lastly, in the restroom of this rental company, my mother overheard employees openly mocking and ridiculing Chinese people, saying they know nothing and laughing loudly. While we were picking up the car, another family was arguing with the staff over unclear charges. It's better to choose another company. Do not rent from Alamo in the UK! I've rented from them in the US and Canada before without issues, but in the UK, be very cautious!

They explain the services offered upfront, so you can choose to purchase if needed without any hard sell. The price is still a bit higher compared to other European countries, but this is the UK, and it's somewhat understandable since everything is quite expensive here.

The car rental service was decent, but the vehicle was in poor condition. The first car they provided was very dirty and had already driven over 60,000 miles. While driving it, I realized it was too large and too tall. We kept searching for a 7-seater car in every city but couldn't find one. Each branch said they could only check their own inventory and not other branches'. They told us we had to call other branches ourselves to check availability.

The service attitude at the store was pretty good, there were no upsells, and there was no waiting in line. However, we were very dissatisfied with the handling of the accident aftermath. The accident was entirely the other party's fault, yet they still charged us £1500 when returning the car. It's been over three months since we returned home and we have yet to get our money back, with the excuse that the other party’s insurance has not compensated them.
