Lassen Volcanic National Park – with the largest plug dome volcano in the world

Sure, you could always chase waterfalls, but how about chasing some volcanoes?

Within Lassen Volcanic National Park, you’ll not only find one, but four different types of volcanoes: shield, plug dome, cinder cone and composite.

This 106,000-acre park ranges in elevations from 5,300 feet to over 10,000 feet at the top of Lassen Peak. This unlocks a ton of potential when it comes to exploring both incredible hydrothermal features, as well as snow-capped peaks, tumbling waterfalls and serene meadows.

Just a short 30-minute drive from the Chester and Lake Almanor area, the park is a great day trip.
