Coyote Buttes North – one of the most astonishing hikes on Earth

Wanna hike the Wave in Arizona? You are not alone!

The Wave – Coyote Buttes North, is one of the most astonishing hikes on Earth. This fascinating natural attraction is a dream destination for hikers, photographers, and filmmakers.

This is the place that you might think you are stepping into another planet. A place of incredible beauty that you couldn’t imagine. The formation of the Wave began 190 million years ago, when desert dunes compacted and solidified into striped sandstone. The peculiar stratum was created by slow wind and rain erosion.

Before heading to the Wave, make sure to get a permit lottery to visit it. Why? Because the Bureau of Land Management only allows 20 visitors to access The Wave per day. You’ll have to pay a fine up to $1200 if you’re caught without a permit. The permit can be obtained online (through a lottery on Recreation.gov official site) or by walk-in.

🚘If you have time, you can drive to visit Horseshoe Bend and Antelope Canyon as well! It is about a 40 minutes ride from these 2 destinations.
