The process was very slow and the waiting time was long. We booked a Mazda 5, but they gave us an MG instead, which was extremely difficult to drive! I've never driven such a hard-to-handle car before. There was no response when pressing the accelerator the first time, and the second time it just shot forward. Luckily, the roads in Auckland are wide and easy to drive on. If we had to drive on mountain roads in Queenstown, it would be terrifying. Next time, I will insist on not changing the car.

With four people and lots of luggage, we booked a Mitsubishi Outlander. However, upon pickup, we were informed it was unavailable and were given a Ford Mustang Mach-E instead, with an additional $20 fee. This shouldn't have been charged to the customer, as it was the rental company's fault. The car was smaller, and we had to place some luggage in the front seat, which was quite frustrating. I didn't argue since it was just for half a day. (Switching to a Kia Carnival would have cost an additional $20)
Our flight was originally scheduled to arrive at 7 PM, but it was delayed by over an hour. By the time we got our luggage, it was nearly 7:30 PM. The car rental location was right outside the airport exit, sharing a counter with Hertz. The staff was very meticulous and enthusiastic. We had to take two highways and needed to prepay with the rental company. After completing the paperwork at the counter, we followed the signs and walked a few minutes to the parking lot to pick up the car. We got a small SUV, which locals drive frequently. The car was relatively new, with just over 30,000 kilometers on it, and it was very clean inside. Dollar offers great rental rates, and we will choose them again next time we visit New Zealand.
The staff at Ezi Car Rental were very friendly and the procedures were simple. We purchased the super comprehensive insurance from the QEEQ platform, and the rental company didn't try to sell us their own insurance. The vehicle was very new, even equipped with a heads-up display and adaptive cruise control. Adaptive cruise control is an amazing feature in New Zealand, almost equivalent to autopilot.
