The staff were pretty slow, and sometimes they just weren’t at their desks so you couldn’t find anyone and had to wait. The first time picking up the car took over half an hour.
I was really happy with the whole experience. The front desk staff were super friendly and attentive. They gave me a brand‑new car with only 29 km on it, literally just picked up from the dealer, so it was spotless inside and out. After I returned the car, they even drove me to the airport, which was really thoughtful. If I come back again, I’ll definitely rent from this company.
They don’t take cash in NZD for the deposit, you have to use a card. If you buy their full insurance on-site, the deposit drops to just 200 NZD, otherwise it’s as high as 3,500 NZD.
I really like renting with Alamo. It’s a bit more expensive, but they don’t push any add‑ons, pickup and return are super straightforward, no car swapping hassle, and the cars are always in good condition!
Really good experience — the customer service and staff responded super quickly and actually solved my issues. I’d definitely rent here again next time.
No pushy sales at all. I arrived outside their business hours and the Heartland hotel shuttle took me straight to the hotel, then picking up the car was super smooth. The car itself was a bit old though, a 2010 model with over 200,000 km on it.
