Pick-up was super easy, no pushy insurance sales at all, and returning the car was just as straightforward with Avis.

Picked the car up an hour earlier and they didn’t charge any extra. Really straightforward and efficient service.

Car was in great condition and the service was excellent.

Overall it went pretty smoothly, but you really need to pay close attention to the pickup time. If you’re going to be late, especially by a lot, it’s best to call ahead and let them know. Otherwise, if you pick up the car the next day, they’ll charge you based on a new daily rate, which can end up being quite a bit higher.

Communication was smooth and easy. I mentioned I wanted CarPlay, and they set it up right away.

The RAV4 was really spacious – perfect for four people, and the trunk had plenty of room for our luggage. Overall a great experience. Before setting off I only took photos of the body of the car; I really should’ve taken pictures of the wheels too. When we returned the car they found a small scratch on the rim that you’d barely notice, and I wasn’t sure if it was already there, but I still ended up paying 2,000. Luckily I’d bought insurance through QEEQ so it was fully reimbursed. There’s always uncertainty on the road, so I’d definitely recommend getting enough coverage before you drive.

We booked an 11-seater Toyota HiAce. These are pretty rare, so the vehicle was a bit old, but it still drove really well.

They do try to upsell you a bit—suggesting a bigger car, pricier insurance, prepaying fuel and so on—but they’re not pushy about it. Just say no to everything if you’re not interested and it’s fine.

The car rental desk at Izmir Airport was easy to find and the staff were really patient. The only downside was that the return location was quite hard to locate. Luckily we ran into a staff member from the rental company who kindly walked us over to the right place. The return process itself was super simple and only took a few minutes, and our deposit was refunded in less than ten business days. Big thumbs up to Avis.

Booked a Toyota Corolla but got a free upgrade to a KIA MPV instead. Tons of space and it drove really well.

It was my first time driving a right-hand-drive car so I was a bit uncomfortable at the beginning, but the car was super smart with all kinds of assist features—lane keeping, blind spot/lane change alerts, adaptive speed limit, etc. It really reduced the chance of an accident and made city driving feel easy and under control. Loved it!
