You can walk to the counter of Thrifty - Perth Airport car hire.

Desks are in Terminals 1, 2 and 3, next to the baggage claim area. Please ensure to fill in the flight number information when making your booking so that the car company can arrange the vehicle for you at the correct arrival terminal. If you are not arriving on a flight, or a valid flight number is not present, the vehicle will be ready at Terminal 4 (T4 - Qantas and Jetstar Domestic Only), inside the arrivals hall. When picking your vehicle up at Qantas terminal at Terminal 3 (T3), for your convenience please proceed directly to the car park service booth for your rental.

This time, I picked up the car from the Hertz store at Perth Airport. The service is available until midnight, so you don't need to worry too much about the typical flight times. The pick-up process was much faster compared to the Hertz in Melbourne, possibly because I had rental information saved from a few days earlier at the Melbourne store. The service staff were very friendly. I had reserved a Nissan X-Trail, but when I arrived, they prepared a Toyota Highlander for me. I told the staff I preferred a mid-sized SUV and ideally the Kia Sportage I had driven earlier. The staff apologized and informed me they didn't have the Sportage available, but after calling a colleague, they managed to get a Subaru Forester for me within ten minutes. The car was almost new with only 12,000 km on it and no visible scratches. The staff asked if I had insurance, and I confirmed I had full coverage, so they didn't ask further. Overall, it was a great experience.

The day we picked up the car, we noticed a nail in the tire. After driving for a short distance, we returned to replace the vehicle, but there were no cars available. The next morning, we went back to exchange the car again, and Thrifty's excellent service ensured they checked the mileage and immediately provided us with a replacement. As for the tire issue, they informed us to file an insurance claim ourselves.

Our flight arrived early at 6:10 AM, but the staff mentioned the booking was for 7 AM, so the vehicle wasn't ready yet. They suggested we wait at the airport. However, by 6:40, a staff member came to inform us the car was ready. The process was fast, and the car was in great condition—only around 6,000 kilometers driven. They noticed I had already purchased insurance through QEEQ and just gave me some claims tips without any upselling. Returning the car was also very convenient.

First time renting a car and I went with the full insurance at the counter for peace of mind. I checked the price and it was pretty reasonable. Both pickup and return were super quick and straightforward. Loved it.
Still a fan of the RAV4, but getting an X-Trail isn’t bad either.
