In most cases, vehicles can be driven in any state in the continental United States. The vehicles are not permitted to be taken on ferries or to island locations without prior authorization from Thrifty. Travel is also not permitted via rail. Driving to Canada In most cases, vehicles may be driven across the Canadian border， cross-border fee may apply, please check with the counter. It is recommended to have PERS coverage when using vehicles in cross-border rentals for the US and Canada. Certain cities have an agent message of CHECK 4 DRIVING TO CANADA that displays as a reminder to ask if the customer plans on driving into Canada, check the city directory for any restrictions. The renter must have a valid driver\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s license and rental record to cross the border into Canada. Canadian law does require that everyone entering the country have a passport, so everyone in the vehicle must have the proper identification. Check the renting city for any exceptions and note on the reservation that the car will be taken into Canada by adding the Field Remark: C/F2DRIVING INTO CANADA. Vehicles can be dropped one-way between the U.S. and Canada if so allowed on the reservation.
