Pickup was extremely slow. All rental companies in Boston share the same hall. While other companies processed 2 to 3 customers, Dollar barely managed one. If I hadn’t paid in full, I would have definitely switched companies on the spot. The most disappointing part was the GPS, which was a barely usable LG Android model. To make things worse, they didn't provide a GPS mount, so we had to hold it by hand in the passenger seat. After using it for half a day, I went to buy a Garmin GPS myself.

We arrived at Boston Logan Airport at 5:30 AM on September 10th and headed straight to the rental counter. There weren't many people early in the morning. A golden-haired representative, who initially appeared friendly, turned out to be quite the opposite. She aggressively recommended EZPASS, claiming all East Coast highways required it, and it would cost $15 per day, adding up to $70. She went on for about 40-60 minutes. Although we have good English, we insisted we didn’t need it as Google Maps could avoid toll roads. We had experience from a previous West Coast trip. After resisting the service for an hour, her attitude shifted. She asked if we had additional drivers to include in the contract. Thinking it was like Hertz, we added my wife. She briefly mentioned 'more money' for the extra driver without specifying the amount. We received two contracts, and something felt off. Before leaving, I reviewed them and noticed our bill, which should've been around $110 with one-way fees and taxes, was $190. Other people had lined up, so we waited and inquired. She claimed she informed us about the extra costs, yet didn’t specify the amount. We requested a cancellation, intending to have just one driver since the extra cost was unnecessary. She refused and insisted it couldn’t be canceled at her counter, only at the pickup location. Before leaving, I took a photo of the counter, but she demanded its deletion, fearing trouble on-site so we complied. At the pickup location, her supervisor assisted with the cancellation. A waiting customer informed us she mocked us after we left, wishing we'd be fined on East Coast toll roads. He also found her very rude. Sorting everything took two and a half hours, a nightmare. Later, we realized EZPASS was unnecessary, showing she set two traps after failing to sell it. Strongly complaining about the service of the 'pretty' representative on duty from 5:30 to 7:30 AM on September 10th at Boston Logan Airport. Her attitude was terrible!

The shuttle bus from the airport to the rental car company’s parking lot comes about every 20-30 minutes. The rental car company’s counter is easy to find. However, the counter staff insisted on adding $59 for the EZ pass, saying that the highways from Boston to Washington don’t accept cash or credit card payments. Though the booking website mentioned only paying $259 at the store, Dollar ended up charging me $369 with tax included. I didn't bother arguing but felt that the rental car company should inform customers more clearly; it's quite disappointing.

The service process was very organized. There was hardly any queue. The rental company recommended the EZPass in-state toll package, but it turned out to be unnecessary. We didn't travel that much, and part of it was out-of-state tolls not covered by the package. If you don't choose this package, you might actually spend less.

Since they required the car to be fully charged upon return and I feared I wouldn't have time to charge it then, I switched to a gasoline car, which cost an additional $45 per day. When I checked car rentals in Boston for July 2022, Thrifty was at the same counter as Hertz. Hertz, Dollar, and Thrifty are operated by the same company at Boston Airport. Despite the different brand names at the counters, the pickup and drop-off locations are the same, and the staff are the same, wearing Hertz uniforms. The staff were very friendly. Make a joke or chat with them when picking up the car to build rapport. The waiting time depends; if many people on the same shuttle bus arrive, there might be a queue, but it wasn’t too bad. When I arrived, only Dollar had many customers picking up cars, while others had few. I asked a staff member named Martin why Dollar had more customers and was told it’s because they are cheaper. After comparing several companies, I found Dollar was the cheapest for the same car category. Renting through Hertz’s website ends up costing much more for the same car and location.

Not bad, no need to worry, just communicate properly. Acceleration pass service fee is $14.99 per day based on the number of rental days, regardless of whether you use toll roads or not. This can add up. They added insurance when I picked up the car, but after communication, we cancelled the unnecessary coverage. I mistook a 4 for a 9 in the parking spot number and took the wrong car. The staff at the exit noticed and had me wait while they brought the correct car. They were quite nice, thanks.

The car rental company feels somewhat deceptive and lacks transparency. Even if you pay more on the platform and purchase all the insurance options, they still push unclear additional services at the counter. Renting a car through this platform is based on previous after-sale service experiences, but the rental company arbitrarily charges and adds unknown fees, which is extremely frustrating and shows a lack of credibility for a large company. At the car rental desk, there was only one counter with 26 people waiting in line. It took 1 hour and 45 minutes from queuing to getting the car. Landing at 9:00 PM and driving off nearly at 11:00 PM. The efficiency was very low. Unfortunately, my process only took seven minutes, but some people ahead seemed to be choosing their car models on-site, which was very slow. Overall, the counter had few staff at night and lacked a sense of service. Despite customers waiting in long lines, they did not seem concerned, as if this situation was normal.
