Great experience with staff. They allowed us to modify our time from 2 pm to 2pm and change to noon to noon because we arrived 2 hours early. Very nice! Difficulty with Google maps and finding location and construction on road. Driver window did not always go up right away, but did work slowly. Staff was great. Drop off was quick and easy.

On arrival, I was made to wait over 40minutes to be seen to, then I had to pay the full insurance premium instead of the deposit as my credit card only had my first name initial, not my full first name, so the car cost me in excess of £500 for 9 days. I still haven’t received my fuel deposit back. The women in reception wasn’t helpful at all, I was made to feel like I was wasting her time - tutting, huffing and puffing... she sternly told me my options were, pay it or cancel the hire and I would lose the £120 I had already paid and stuck in Rome airport with my wife and child at 11pm at night. I will not and will advise friends and family not to be using Gold Car ever again. pissed off is an understatement....

The lack of an international drivers lic. caused a problem that I was forced to take full insurance coverage(545€) before they would give me a vehicle!!! After spending 2 months in Italy and renting a car for that oeriod I was never asked for an international lic. So this vehicle cost me double the original rental!

Very helpful staff dropping off the car and picking it up. Only issue I had was that they told us that we weren't fully insured when picking up the car, which I was as I paid the extra fee from the qeeq premium option. In reality they charge a very high extra fee to deal with them directly if anything had to happen and to avoid the 1000 euro deposit on the card. Was a bit disappointed that I got tricked into as they made it seem like I wasn't covered enough but everything else was great.

We were in the waiting line 1.5 hours late. We waited another hour before we were called to the counter. The lady at the counter said "we were over 2 hours late and hence they gave our car away". She then started offering us a different car for 300 euros more. I explained our reason being late which was not in our control. The lady said we don't have any other options. I then asked for a smaller car which she was able to give us for the same cost. I asked if the cost could be reduced since I am getting the same car and the answer was no. First of all, we got Fiat instead of Opel. But the worst thing was happened at the end. We dropped off the car and were told that was a damage, actyally itvwas some slight attrision on the bumper. We are definetly not involved in its appearence - may be it was not be marked, since it does not look like damage. However we were charged. Now we are trying to get the compencation since we have the ensurence. Meanwile the answer that we got from QEEQ was not relevant to our request. Another unpkeasant thing: we payed in advance for the gps, but at the drop of we were cgarged again for tge gps.

The counter staff was really pushy about us buying their extra insurance, when we refused she got nasty about it. There was damage recorded on the car at pickup however when we returned it Budget tried to claim we did it and get us to pay for the damage. It took 2 weeks to get it resolved. we were on a cruise and communication was hard. we have since read reviews online and see this kind of treatment common from Budget in the Rome Airport. We waited for 90min after a 16h flight to receive our car. The car we booked wasnt available. Never mind, no guarantee for the booked class. The issue was the very long waiting time with not enough agents at the desk and IT systems that didnt work. Very tedious - have experienced way better in Italy even with the low cost rental companies. Our car got damaged and immediately after returning the car EUR 1400 was charged to my credit card. Without any information on the actual damage. I called the hotline, very rude and not helpful at all. In the end the guy just hang up the phone. Explained to me that the actual damage was below EUR 1000 after three weeks but refuse to return the outstanding monnies. BIG Mistake to book Budget.

Having red many negative reviews on AVIS I have to admit that I was a bit worried. Joined their preferred client scheme to better understand how they operate and I would recommend that every client does it as well... Had a pleasant experience at the desk, friendly and efficient with the added bonus of a free upgrade to a top of the range Seat Alhambra practically new! It certainly made our holiday more pleasant. Also thanks to the preferred client scheme I went directly to the car skipping the long queue at the collection booth. Car was clean and sanitised with the key in a sealed bag. Went in fearing the worst and came back having another favourite rental company. If I was simply lucky I cannot tell but based on my experience I would certainly recommend.

I booked the car for my mom. 1. Person at the counter automatically added "fuel top up" surcharge, which also increased the location surcharge (since it's 20% of the total price), and hence they said she would have to pay the extra when the car is returned. 2. He said if we top it up, then there will be no fuel surcharge, but there was still some money to be paid according to the contract (due to the increase of location surcharge). 3. After I figured this out, we had to ask for a new contract without the "fuel top up" service/surcharge. The original person at the counter was unwilling to help, but the second one happily printed a new contract, on which the correct price was written, where we don't have to pay anything extra (unless, of course, we don't return the car with a full tank). 4. Compared to other southern Italy rentals, I think it was pretty good and good price.

I like the Fiat 500 because of gas mileage, ease of handling and parking. In Hertz’ purchase of their new fleet, there is no Bluetooth available in the cars and no option for a sunroof. It’s disappointing that the company has opted for the cheaper line of these automobiles. With modern use of navigation systems on smart phones, Bluetooth should really be available as a standard feature.

The car they finally gave me was not the category I rented and much larger than I wanted. I had to change it in the garage and had to wait again for a smaller car. All in all, it was a very long process to rent a car for a day.

The front desk staff was aggressive with us, telling us we needed to spend an additional 237 euros and that Easyrentcars did something illegal by renting us one of Goldcar/Rhodium's vehicles. She tried to sell me things that were already covered in my Easyrentcars contract and kept us at the desk for over an hour. She demanded a copy of the contract and continued to tell us this was illegal. I refused to pay the additional fee, which infuriated her, but she finally gave me the keys. The vehicle had damage on it that was not indicated on the initial document, so they re-did it and gave me another. I took pictures just in case they gave me a hard time when I returned it. When I returned the car, I had no problem at all.

The service of counter and garage staff was courteous and efficient. My only complaint was with the vehicle. I reserved a Fiat Panda or equivalent. Unfortunately Firefly didn’t have any cars in that class and they tried to give me a much larger car, which was definitely not useful to me. We compromised on a Fiat Cubo, which has to be one of the worst designed vehicles ever. Because of the front dash construction, with the seat pulled up to accommodate a smaller woman, I could barely fit my leg underneath in order to reach the clutch with my foot. It was virtually impossible to find a comfortable seat position. The vehicle was too heavy and did not handle well , and the clutch was not at all smooth to operate. All in all, I would never take this model again on a future rental. They should remove it from their fleet.

We reserved a Audi A3 but got a Mini Cooper( same class according to the car rental angency but we prefer an Audi A3, no big deal though), the car was absolutely disgusting and we're too busy learning everything about the car before drive away from their Rome airport garage that we forgot to check the fuel level, a few minute after we checked out from the garage we saw that the fuel was only half but the paper stated it was full so we had to return to the garage and ask the staff, he wrote sth casually on the paper and walked away with zero interest in listening to our complain about the dirty car. When we returned the car in Ancona the guy there told us that's what happens at their Rome airport branch quite often, guess they're either understaffed or just have no desire keeping their customer! Btw on my confirmation with EasyRentCars it states clearly that the price quote includes one-way-return but when we picked up the car Maggiore still added a charge we can't remember why but we never buy any add-ons when rent cars, one driver/deny all insurance coz our credit card covers it/same fuel level/no gps needed....we needed nothing extra, now Amex is investigating the extra charge for us.

Target Italy were very poor, Contacted them on arrival as per the APP. said had no booking with them After 2 hours of messing finally arrived at there office, Told that there had been mix up on names and blamed it on booking through a different web site. First piece of paper I was issued with told me all repair costs and fee for administration if any damage occurred whilst in my care. Taken to vehicle which was in a dirty condition inside and out. I was showed damage on the car which was highlighted using an I Pad. at least 10 area's. Asked for a vehicle condition report, told they didn't have any but would e-mail the damage, Only received 4 pictures 3 off which were wheel trims. On returning the vehicle I was asked if I had been informed what any repair cost`s would be, A inspection of the vehicle then took place this lasted over 7 minutes a lot longer than when I collected it A small scratch was noted (no longer than 10cms) which wasn't on the original collection I was informed. I stated I had not done it and must have been there on collection. This I was told was impossible that I had signed for the vehicle although with damage but not in that area. We returned to the office and I was left with no option but to pay 180 Euro for the scratch. Due to catching a plane and not being able to speak with a manager I reluctantly payed . I have rented cars for many years in different country's, this is the worst experience I have had and will not be using them again.

Like: The service at the rental office was friendly and very good. We were a large group of 5 adults and 4 children, who had booked 2 station wagons. The lady at the pick-up office saw our luggage (which we considered typical for US / Canadian families) and pointed out, correctly, that it would not fit into the cars we had booked, along with the passengers. I guess North American ideas of "medium" sized cars is different from European ones. She offered 1 car as booked, and offered a 9 seater mini-van instead of the 2nd car. The additional charge was very reasonable (80 Euros for 5 days) and the swap made so much sense for us in the end. Very good service, and all was handled with the least amount of fuss or hassles.
Dislike: At the time of drop-off, I did pay a steep fee (45 Euros) for not refilling the gas to full. This fee was in addition to the cost of the fuel, which was also charged at a premium. I suggest that you should leave enough time to get a refill before returning the car to avoid this.

Car was very dirty. Tank not full. Pickup in Rome was rushed. Staff were rude. Long wait. Unable to check car condition properly due to poor lighting and dirty condition of the car. When car was returned they hit me up for damages which may have been pre-existing. Unsure as the damage was camouflaged by the poor and dirty condition of the car. Very stressful experience all round! Charged an exorbitant excess for what looks to be very minor damage. Felt ripped-off!

I booked a 7 seater car as I had 6 people in our party. I was given a long wheel base 9 seater mini bus. As soon as I drove it it was clear that the brakes needed repairing. I went straight back into the office but the representative had gone and closed up. I phoned the next day but no answer and finally got through the following day and returned the vehicle, not for a 7 seater as booked but another large minbus. Where we were staying in Rome this was a real problem as we couldnt get the van on the driveway. Please, if someone books a people carrier can you not give them a large bus which struggles to park or get down very narrow lanes. Thank you

Dislike: Was not clear when booking that the rental office was not in the airport. Wasnt a big deal but i wasted time looking for the office inside the terminal. Had to call to find out.
