Why Pick Up at Kelowna International Airport (YLW)
Airport pickup is ideal for flight-based travelers who want immediate access to a car, the largest selection of vehicles, and the most consistent operating hours. It’s often the easiest place to secure SUVs for lake and mountain drives, add extras like child seats, and handle early/late returns. Keep in mind that airport facility or concession fees may increase the total compared with off-airport locations, so compare the final price (including taxes and surcharges) before booking.

Car Rental Planning Tips For Kelowna & the Okanagan
Confirm license and age requirements early: Bring a valid driver’s license and a credit card in the main driver’s name. If you’re under 25, check for young-driver fees and vehicle-class limits before booking.
Pick the right vehicle for the season: For summer lake loops, a compact is fine. For winter drives to Big White or mountain passes, consider an AWD/4WD option and verify winter tire compliance.
Plan for mountain weather and road conditions: Conditions can change quickly on higher-elevation routes. Check DriveBC updates before departure and build extra time for snow, reduced visibility, or traffic.
Keep fuel topped up outside city centers: Gas stations are easy to find in Kelowna, West Kelowna, and major towns, but can be less frequent on mountain access roads. Avoid returning the car with a low tank if your drop-off is time-sensitive.
Understand insurance before you drive off: Review collision damage coverage, liability, and deductibles. If relying on credit-card coverage, confirm it applies in Canada and matches the vehicle class you’re renting.
Build in buffer time for winery and beach traffic: Summer weekends can be busy on Highway 97 and near popular waterfront areas. Depart earlier in the day if you want more time at stops and less time in queues.
Download offline maps for canyon and mountain areas: Cell coverage can be inconsistent outside town. Offline maps help with navigation to trailheads, viewpoints, and backroads around Myra Canyon and resort access routes.
Plan parking ahead in peak season: Waterfronts and trailheads can fill up quickly. Arrive early for popular spots like Myra Canyon parking and busy beach areas, especially on sunny weekends.
