The experience was terrible. The charge was double what was quoted on easyrentcars. The electric car would not charge as europcar gave us a charging card that did not work. They did not pick up the phone for hours to assist us; leaving us stranded in Portugal. Their response when the issue was raised was abysmal.
The car that they arrange for us was far from what we paid for. It was at 2017 model Skoda. The car had a lot of external damage and was a very very base model. I told the staff that I felt it was definitely less than what we had paid for and they were not willing to look for anything else more suitable. It is actually the second time they’ve given me a car inferior to the category I’ve paid for. I definitely expect much more from a highly reputable global company. They made us pay and extremely high excess removal price even though the car was well inferior. We actually paid more for the excess waiver fee on the totally scratched and dented older model car than we did for the actual car rental.
After having a couple of good experiences with them at the cascais Europecar, I’m quite disappointed that the last two times I have been dealt a very bad hand and they’re not willing to be reasonable. And for this reason I don’t think I’ll ever recommend I go back there

Excellent phone manner, very helpful, and found the car I wanted at the Europcar site I first found dismissive who said they did not have a Captur. Easyrent found the right car at the right price with no hassle.
We waited 1.5 hours to collect our car in Lisbon. The Europcar pick-up office was extremely busy and there was not enough staff. We arrived well ahead of our scheduled pick-up time and it still took an unacceptable amount of time to finally receive the car. Having said this, the staff were trying their best in the circumstances and were friendly and helpful as much as possible.
My experience with person on counter during pick up was excellent. I absolutely loved it. I am again going to book car from europcar just because the experience was pleasant with the guy on counter.
Car had warning lights come on almost immediately, forcing us to bring the first car back to Europecar. Both cars had extensive exterior damage (scratches, small dents, pieces broken off) that had to be documented before leaving the location. Second car was missing the cargo cover that hides contents of rear area. The counter person at Europecar used many "scare tactics" to try to persuade me to buy their insurance even though I had already bought insurance through Easyrentcars.
Europcar could not provide the reserved SUV. The first female counter staff told me that the reserved car was not returned by the previous car hirer. She then recommended a BMW X6 with additional cost Euro 300 per day but it was on promotion on that date that it was reduced to Euro 200 per day. I refused her recommendation. After about 15 minutes, she said there was only one car, but not SUV, was available. I checked that it was only a four doors car. I therefore complained the bad service of Eourpcar. Later a male duty manager came to me and said my reserved SUV was broken down. It was the different explanation to the former female staff. He was fooling around about 10 minutes and approached me again that a 7 seater car could be provided to me. He leaded me walking around about 5 minutes to find the car but he did not exactly know where it was. I waited at the office for about 5 minutes again. Eventually we checked the car and I accepted.
A very unhappy experience with the service of Eoropcar. I will never hire car from this worst company again no matter go to where and will tell my friends not to use this company as well.

Two and a half hours at check in, every panel and wheel was scratched or even dented the windscreen had stone chips plus a crack and the wiper blades terribly worn to the point where it was dangerous....seats and mats stained and the car was dirty. This was supposed to be a premium convertible but the reality was the car was tired and the few staff that were there were overworked!
Long wait to receive car. No option to check for damage yourself. Upsold at every opportunity. Lots of hidden fees and high taxes. Overcharged in return. Overcharged for additional driver refueling and an extra day. Manager acknowledged mistakes and no resolution has been met. Terrible experience.

Impolite and con the customer into getting extra insurance and charge you for the toll device. In effect this almost doubled the cost of the car hire. I will never use them again.
