“Me siento estafado por la Empresa GOLDCAR”

Yo había contratado el alquiler con un seguro completo, pero al llegar al mostrador de GOLDCAR en Sr. que me atendió me dice que ese seguro no me cubría casi nada, por lo que me cobró U$S 198.00 por una nueva póliza, lo que considero una estafa por parte de ese empresa. También me cobró otro monto por el combustible diciendo que al efectuar la devolución se me acreditaría la cantidad correspondiente al combustible con el que devolviera la unidad en pocos días, lo que nunca ocurrió ya que lo entregué con mas de un cuarto de tanque. Considero una estafa por el hecho que luego y a través de Uds. también alquilé otro auto en la ciudad de Cordoba con el mismo seguro y no me cobraron absolutamente nada, diciéndome que estaba totalmente cubierto contra todo riesgo lo que fué totalmente cierto, y no solo eso sino que al no tener disponible una unidad como la que había elegido, me entregaron una de categoría superior. No se si esto les puede servir de algo, pero quería dejar asentada mi desconformidad con la empresa GOLDCAR. Gracias.

“Terrible car, terrible customer service by Goldcar - they have not even apologised”

I collected a hire car from you at Malaga airport on the 5th August 2019. Initially I felt the biting point of the car felt high. The car was then lightly driven to our apartment in Manilva and a few time locally over the next 6 days. I estimate I covered 200km over flat local roads and driving safely with my young family. On the Sunday 11th around 9:30am, we drove as a family to Estepona and the car was losing drive and appeared the clutch was failing. (Your mechanical report will be able to provide technical diagnosis). I managed to get the car very carefully and slowly into Estepona. I then immediately called Goldcar customer services to inform them of the situation and they advised me to drive to Malaga airport to replace the car as this was the only office open on Sunday. Just outside Estepona approaching the AP7, the car came to a complete halt on the side of the road and was no longer drivable. On calling the breakdown recovery service and reporting the issue, a tow truck came to collect me and my young son. As you will appreciate, the hour wait for the tow truck in plus 30 degree heat on the side of a dual carriage way, put my son and I at considerable risk of harm. The car had to be winched onto the back of the tow truck. We continued our journey to the Goldcar Garage next to the airport and were able to collect our things from the car. We were then driven back to the car collection point within the airport. By this time about 3 hours have elapsed and we joined a queue which took a further 45 mins to be served.On reporting the issue, I would have expected a replacement car would have be provided, as the original car had fallen short of the service we had paid for i.e. being driveable. We would have also have expected an apology from Goldcar for not proving a roadworthy car that we had paid for in good faith. This was not to be the case

“Car we got was great once we got it. Rental staff extremely rude”

Waited ages to be served. Once serves we have a very rude lady. Wanted to charge me airport location tax dispute taxes being included in the chargw.. says it's not included as cheap rate and says in terms on goldcar website. Lady then said I had to pay fuel surcharge of €135 which is refundable if return full. That was fine. Then she said I had to take out there personal insurance. Explained I had insurance excess which she said wasn't going to cover their rental which was utterly rubbish. After 30mins had passed, she reluctantly took the €1400 blocked swipe of my car and we was on our way. Very very rude and told me not to shout at her which I honestly wasn't doing. She was mis-selling which not give me all options. I assume they are on commission. Kept saying that a 5p dent or a scratch would cost €700. I'm a careful driver having driver loads of hire cars before and never had so much bother getting a car. It was almost 11pm at this point. Once it was sorted, the car we got was nice and did the job. It was cheap for a reason .. there is no customer service. Be warned there might be hidden charges so also check goldcar website. There rating is also low and branded as robbers. It's true. Will never use again.

I have used goldcar once before and this was in January 2019 when I booked with Ryanair. The staff at the desk in Alicante were a bit rude and insisted that I pay another airport service charge although I had already paid this when I booked the car hire through Ryan air car hire. I paid the airport charge as they insisted that I had to before I could have the car and told me that it was nothing to do with them that I had already paid it. They tried to do exactly the same this time but I had a copy of your booking firm and it said what was included and clearly stated was airport charge. He wasn’t happy when I showed him the form and said they didn’t normally deal with your company but he then I think accepted it. I will only find this out when I contact my credit card company. The car was a Fiat panda and had lots of damage on it, too much really for me to record at the time so I left the car where it was and took lots of photos. Whilst I was completing the paperwork there were 2 other customers having heated arguments with the staff about the service they had received as well so my complaint is obviously not the only one. When I returned the car they tried to say that I had caused damage to the door mirror - this damage was obviously very old and had definitely not been caused by me. Fortunately I had a photo of this on my phone and he accepted this. I will not be using goldcar again as the 2 experiences I have had with them have both been bad.

Everything was very good and I will use the company again. I travel to Spain quite a lot - my next trip will be 17th may so I need a company I can trust to rent a car from.
